Gladys Bettis, affectionately referred to as “Mama Bus,” is the mother of NFL Hall of Fame and Pittsburgh Steelers running back “The Bus” Jerome Bettis. She is a founding member and past president of the Professional Football Players Mothers Association (PFPMA). As a breast cancer survivor, Bettis works closely with the American Cancer Society, serving as an ambassador for its Pittsburgh initiatives, and is a proud member of Sisters Network, a breast cancer survivor advocacy and support group. She serves as president of The Jerome Bettis “Bus Stops Here” Foundation. Bettis is a sought after guest speaker and her philanthropy is nationally recognized. She serves as a board member for Detroit Sports Zone and Ebony Ladies/Fit Factor. Even with all of her accomplishments, she still refers to herself as a “mother first.”
