On September 30, join us for a webinar which will address your questions and concerns about COVID-19. The webinar is open to all active and former NFL players and their families. Joining us will be a panel of experts who will discuss the current state of the pandemic, vaccine hesitancy, variants, mask wearing, back-to-school advice, and public safety. We will make available a question submission form before the event to ensure we can answer as many of your questions as possible.

Chisara N. Asomugha, MD, MSPH, MHS, is a poet, actor, and healthcare futurist. In 2020, she created The JOY+WELL, a virtual space to support women of color in finding their joy through writing and performance art. Over the last three decades, she has used her experiences in healthcare, public service, and the arts to transform lives in the U.S. and overseas. An alum of Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Yale University, she earned a BA in history from Stanford University, an MD from Duke University School of Medicine, and her MSPH from UNC Gillings School of Public Health. Patrice A. Harris, MD, MA, is the CEO and co-founder of eMed, a digital healthcare company working to expand access to quick, affordable, and verified testing solutions through its online point-of-care platform. Harris was the 174th President of the American Medical Association and the first African-American woman elected to that position. She is a board-certified psychiatrist from Atlanta and has diverse experience as a private practicing physician, county public health officer, patient advocate and in policy, legislative, and government affairs.
Growing up in Bluefield, West Virginia, Harris dreamt of entering medicine at a time when few women of color were encouraged to become physicians. She spent her formative years at West Virginia University, earning a BA in psychology, an MA in counseling psychology and, ultimately, a medical degree in 1992. It was during this time that her passion for helping children emerged, and she completed her psychiatry residency and fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry and forensic psychiatry at the Emory University School of Medicine. She also served as the senior policy fellow at the Barton Child Law and Policy Center at the Emory University School of Law.
Harris is a visiting professor of psychiatry at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is an adjunct assistant professor in the Emory Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and an adjunct clinical assistant professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Albert Icksang Ko, MD, is the Raj and Indra Nooyi Professor of Public Health at the Yale School of Public Health and collaborating researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Brazilian Albert Icksang Ko, MD, is the Raj and Indra Nooyi Professor of Public Health at the Yale School of Public Health and collaborating researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Brazilian Ministry of Health. He coordinates a research and training program on urban slum health in Brazil, which focuses on implementing public health responses to infectious diseases that have emerged as a consequence of rapid urbanization and social inequity. Ko and his team have mobilized research capacity in Brazil to investigate outbreaks of leptospirosis and dengue, and more recently Zika virus infection and associated birth defects. He serves as a member of the WHO R&D Taskforce for Zika Virus and R&D Blueprint Working Group. During the pandemic, he served with Indra Nooyi as co-chair of the Reopen Connecticut Advisory Group and continues to advise Governor Lamont and the state on its COVID-19 prevention and control plan. Ko is also providing support to the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in its evaluation of the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in Brazil.

Herman A. Taylor, MD, MPH, is a cardiologist and the endowed professor and director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. Previously, he led the National Institutes of Health’s landmark study of African American heart health and disease – the Jackson Heart Study (JHS) – and under his leadership, the JHS researchers and community built a coalition that established the world’s foremost repository of data on African American heart health. Taylor also serves as Director of Player Engagement and Education at the Football Players Health Study at Harvard University.
