Dat Nguyen
Past Player Advisor
Dat Nguyen is a true Texas football legend who learned the game growing up on the Texas Gulf Coast and played his high school football at Rockport. As linebacker at Texas A&M (where everyone said he was too small for Division 1), Nguyen racked up Aggie school records with 51 consecutive starts, 517 career tackles, and is the only Aggie to ever lead the school in tackles for four consecutive years. In 1999, Nguyen went to the Dallas Cowboys in the third round. By his second season in Dallas he was the starting middle linebacker where he recorded 112 tackles in his first full season and was a 2003 second team All-Pro. After seven years with the Cowboys, he joined the staff as assistant linebackers’ and quality control coach before accepting a position under Mike Sherman as inside linebacker coach at his alma mater, Texas A&M, in 2010. Joining 1250 ESPN San Antonio’s all new afternoon show, “The Blitz” with Jason Minnix and Dat Nguyen, he brings unprecedented football cred and true insider knowledge of the world of sports to ESPN San Antonio.
